Carpets from Iran (Persian) have been woven by hand by nomads, mainly women, for centuries. All the materials used are pure natural products, such as the wool and the vegetable dyes. Stockbreeding is the usual occupation for nomads, historically as well as in the present, and in step with the animals' need for new grazing, the nomads move as well. The diversity of nature through which the nomads travel also sets its mark on a typical Persian carpet, which is famous for being inspired by the nature in which the people live and work.
