Rug under desk

Rug under desk

Choose and arrange the rug under the desk

Your office is the room in your home where calm and concentration are required. To achieve a suitable and comfortable atmosphere, a rug under the desk can be decisive.

The most important thing to keep in mind is your space: what is the size of the room and the floor area? You will also need to picture your vision and whether you want your rug to be slightly decorative and purely functional, or the centerpiece of the room. Before shopping, it's also important to have a budget in mind and know how much you're willing to spend.

The next important choice for an office chair mat is the type of surface you are working on. A carpeted floor requires a different type of rug than a tiled or concrete floor. Rugs designed for smooth surfaces are made with non-slip topstitching or adhesive strips on one side to prevent them from shifting.

If you don't spend a lot of time in your office, choose a comfortable viscose under-desk rug. These very soft and silky rugs are perfect for a work atmosphere. On the other hand, these rugs are quite fragile, so if you spend a lot of time in your office and your chair rests on the carpet, it is best to avoid this material. Stronger materials such as wool, synthetic or jute or sisal rugs are recommended.

Choose your style

Rugs come in many styles and have various designs. To encourage a focused atmosphere for regular work, go for neutral or natural colours like beige, gray, white or brown. These colours do not affect the brain in an exciting way and do not distract the mind. In terms of patterns, we recommend rugs with simple motifs such as plain, striped, or checkered rugs.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for a work environment that stimulates creativity or is more relaxed, you can vary the colours of the rug for under your desk. Red stimulates creativity, for example, as does yellow. For a dreamier and more imaginative atmosphere, blue and green are the ideal colours.

Be careful, however, to avoid too bright colours or varying the colours too much; your concentration will be affected and you will no longer find yourself in an optimal atmosphere.
