A carpet makes a prominent impression on the whole room, and choosing the right color for the carpet is therefore important and will have a great impact on the overall quality of the room. A carpet is often a big investment with a long lifespan, which makes it extra important to get right. So you might ask yourself, which carpet color suits best with the rest of the interior? Whether you want a lot of color in your home or not is of course up to the individual to decide. Multicolored carpets can really enliven a room and give it a lovely, positive aura, while a single-colored neutral toned carpet can feel soothing and more restful. So, what aura are you aiming for? And do you want the carpet to be the focus of the room, or just blend in with the rest?
There are no right or wrong answers, but we are aware that the choices are endless and it might be nice to have some guidance in the jungle of carpet. So, what do we at Trendcarpet recommend when it comes to the color of a carpet?
Something that always works is to let the carpet have the same nuances as the rest of the furnishings and fabrics in the room, and the carpet can be a nuance lighter or darker. Work with colors that go tone on tone. For example, if you have a dark grey headboard, you don’t necessarily need to buy a dark grey carpet. You can pick a color that is a nuance lighter or darker than the grey you have on your headboard. Go ahead and have a look at our assortment of grey rugs.
Maybe you want the carpet to be a big and bright splash of colour in the room. If so, we recommend that you add some other colorful details in the room, maybe a vase or a bunch of flowers. This is to avoid making the room feel less uniformed, which is a risk if you have a carpet in a nuance not represented in any other objects in the room.
If you think it will work in your room, choosing a dark carpet can be practical. A dark carpet hides spots and dirt a lot better than a lighter carpet does. But eventual spots should not prevent you from buying a lighter carpet, if that is what you would rather have, since there are, after all, different textile and impregnation sprays that makes it easier to clean the carpet when needed. For example, we have a wide variety of white rugs and beige rugs that works in every type of room.
Tip! It is always easier to change the carpet than to change bigger furnitures, such as the sofa, the bed, and so on. This is why we recommend that you adapt the carpet after the colors of your bigger furnitures, rather than the other way around.
